Looking for the best money mindset books, to help you grow wealth? You’re in the right place.

I grew up with certain attitudes towards money and finances that I now realize (after reading several money mindset books) were holding me back, financially.

The philosophies in the books below helped me quit my secure job, and be able to run my own business as a travel blogger.

I support myself and family from travel blogging, and I credit the amazing money mindset books that I’ve read for teaching me how to do that, while growing wealth.

I want more people to be able to:

  • Live debt-free with wealth – I truly believe the world would be a better place if more of us were rich
  • Have the freedom to change their job situation (if that’s what they want)
  • Experience all that life has to offer

I know it sounds a little cheesy to say so, but the books below will change your life.

BEST Money Mindset Books

These books are listed in random order, and they all bring something different to the table in terms of money mindset. I will highlight how they can help you change your financial situation forever

One important thing to keep in mind about money mindset books is that most of them have a strong focus on entrepreneurship and self-employment. Many of the tips in a lot of them are applicable only if you own your own business. I’ve highlighted under the description of each book whether its useful for entrepreneurs, salaried employees, or both.

1. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

By: T. Harv Eker
Published: 2005
Amazon Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.7)

My advice in a nutshell – don’t let the cheesy title put you off. I was at first a little skeptical of this book, but after reading it, I found it to be the best money mindset book that I’ve ever read.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind does a really good job at focusing on mindset, and how much it plays a role in your wealth. But it does a really good job with some practical, no-nonsense tips as well.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind would be the first book that I’d recommend to a friend or family member who was open to reading a book on money mindset.

Whether you:

  • struggles with money
  • want to improve money mindset
  • simply wants to take their income or wealth to the next level

I really like that while the author focused on mindset, and the law of attraction, but its not the sole focus for the book – there are lots of tangible pointers as well.

While other money mindset books touch on mindset alone, I found this book to be the most honest about some hard truths that are going to be hard to make change if you don’t accept and acknowledge them.

The author of this book refers back often to the paid seminars that his company offers, which was a little annoying but didn’t take away from the value of everything else offered in the book, in my opinion.

Useful for:

  • Self-employed/entrepreneurs
  • Salaried employees (however, the author stresses that the best way to financial independence is passive income, and gives you solid tips on ways to earn it)

2. Rich as F*ck: More Money Than You Know What to Do With

By: Amanda Frances
Published: 2020
Amazon Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.7)

Rich as F*ck was written by self-made millionaire Amanda Frances. I appreciate her honesty about how amazing it is to be wealthy, and why more of us should be trying to aim for that.

She doesn’t beat around the bush, and she says it like it is. I found her story fascinating.

I listened to Rich as F*ck as an audiobook, but I’d recommend reading a physical copy instead as there are quite a few journal prompts.

Many mindset books offer journal prompts, but I found that there were a lot of them at once in this book, and I found it was hard to keep up with them when I still wanted to be able to read the book.

Useful for:

  • Self-employed/entrepreneurs
  • Salaried employees

3. You’re a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth

By: Jen Sincero
Published: 2017
Amazon Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.7)

You’re a Badass At Making Money was the first money mindset book I ever read, and it permanently changed the way I looked at money.

It was the first book that clued me into some of my toxic beliefs about money, and do some mantras and journalling to help me overcome them.

So that being said, I would definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for that. This book encourages you to look at money differently and pushes you to step outside of your comfort zone.

You’ll see that Jen Sincero was willing to do just that, and that’s a big part of why she ended up being so successful.

Yes, the book is a little bit ‘whooey’ at times, but most money mindset books I’ve read are.

Useful for:

  • Self-employed/entrepreneurs
  • Salaried employees (I wouldn’t write it off completely if you’re an employee, but its a lot more applicable to you if you work for yourself and are trying to become self-made)

4. Get Rich Lucky Bitch:  Release Your Money Blocks and Live a First-Class Life

By: Denise Duffield Thomas
Published: 2013
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.6)

Of all the money mindset books I’ve read, Get Rich Lucky B*tch is probably my favourite (next to Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.)

Denise Duffield’s Thomas’ approach to money mindset is, like Jen Sincero’s, very mindset-oriented. She really does a good job of showing you how YOU are the creator of your life, and your wealth situation.

I really like her concept of “money blocks” (they are called different things in different books) but her description of them resonated with me the most.

Denise Duffield Thomas helps you to ‘clear’ the money blocks that are holding you back.

This book can also be used as a career change book, because there’s a whole section about trying to find your unique gifts that people would pay you handsomely for.

There are lots of journal prompts and activities in Get Rich Lucky B*tch. I listened to the audiobook, but I didn’t find her journal prompts overwhelming so I was able to pause the book no problem and do the extra homework.

Denise Dufield Thomas seems like such a positive, down-to-earth person and I truly love listening to all her books. When I face doubt, its often her voice that reminds me of the importance money.

Useful for:

  • Self-employed/entrepreneurs
  • Salaried employees (she discusses quite a bit about asking for a raise/working somewhere that pays your worth!)

6. The Psychology of Money: Timeless lessons on wealth, greed, and happiness

By: Morgan Housel
Published: 2021
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.7)

The Psychology of Money explores how a lot of situational and behavioural factors contribute to our wealth, including:

  • the importance of time and patience
  • the real role of luck and chance
  • simplicity, humility and the pursuit of a happy life

You learn about things like investing, spending and saving aren’t just ‘financial’ decisions, a lot of psychology – how we think – goes into them.

The book is more educational in nature, so if you’re looking for a book that sounds like your best friend cheering you on – this might not be the right one.

But its very interesting and (I think) definitely worth adding to your shelf to learn about how we think about money.

Useful for:

  • Self-employed/entrepreneurs
  • Salaried employees

7. We Should All Be Millionaires: A Woman’s Guide to Earning More, Building Wealth, and Gaining Economic Power

By: Rachel Rodgers
Published: 2022
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.7)

We Should All Be Millionaires is a great money mindset book, especially for women who are entrepreneurs.

The book does read as though it’s been targeted most specifically at women of colour (a category which I don’t personally identify with) and there is a lot of talk about how the game of wealth has – and continues to – work against people of colour, especially women.

we should all be milionaires

I want to make it clear though, that the actual money mindset advice in We Should All Be Millionaires would be useful to anyone.

If you’re only going to read one book on money mindset, then I probably wouldn’t recommend this one because I felt that it was missing some of the practical advice about some of the tough topics (such as spending, and debt) that the other books had.

Useful for:

  • Self-employed/entrepreneurs
  • Salaried employees (a big part of the takeaway from this book is about hiring help to grow your business, which wouldn’t be applicable if you’re not self-employed or an entrepreneur)

8. (BONUS): The Energy of Money: A Spiritual Guide to Financial and Personal Fulfillment

By: Maria Nemeth, PhD
Published: 2000
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.7)

Many of the money mindset books I’ve read describe money as moving at some sort of frequency, or energy.

The Energy of Money is a whole book about that topic exactly. If you have a bad relationship with money, this is a book to really dive into that and get to the root of it.

That being said, The Energy of Money is a bit on the spiritual side (what some would call ‘whooey’.)

I personally have found that some spirituality, in hand with practical, tangible tips, do really well for growing wealth. I’d pick up this book in addition to some of the others on this list, but probably not as the only one.

Useful for:

  • Self-employed/entrepreneurs
  • Salaried employees

Other Books on Money Mindset

There are countless money-mindset books out there, and it has been very hard to narrow down the best. I’ve gone by their ratings, as well as my personal opinion having read so many of them. Here are additional books are worth adding to your wishlist for your journey to wealth

  • Baby Steps Millionaires – by David Ramsay
  • Atomic Habits by James Clear (not a money mindset book specifically, but you learn how a little bit every day can add up to make a huge difference)
  • Everything is Figureoutable by Maria Figuera – also not specifically a money book, but teaches you how to achieve any goal. Good in particular for career change, or growing wealth
  • The Millionaire Next Door, the 1996 edition. The authors have recently published a follow-up, called The Next Millionaire Next Door, but its been almost as well-received as the first one. (The first one is slightly better, based on the ratings.)

Final Thoughts on Reading Money Mindset Books

I sincerely hope that you found this article on money mindset books helpful, and that you’ve been able to add a few to your reading list.

Money mindset wasn’t something I learned about until I became an entrepreneur, but I wish it was something I started learning about in my early 20s.

I had no idea how some of the things I was doing all along were actually holding me back, by repeating same patterns that came from early-life lessons about money from childhood. These books have been truly life changing, and I wish I could give a copy of all of them, to everyone.
