Find Meaningful Work & Life Purpose
We spend a big chunk of our lives working, so I’m not going to lecture you on how important it is to be doing something that you actually enjoy.
Many people focus on much on industry or skills when choosing a career, but your personal values, interests and work style can be just as important when deciding how to spend your time.
Doing something that aligns with your purpose and talents is what everyone wants – but finding a job like that is sometimes easier said than done.
I spent almost a decade doing something that wasn’t really right for me, but am now doing something that I feel happy and excited to wake up to each morning. It has improved my life in a number of ways.

- 16 Personalities – this free career assessment described me to a tea. It also suggests possible careers and jobs that are aligned with your natural style
- Career Explorer – This free 30-minute test will make career suggestions based on your uniqueness and talents
- Jobs that will be safe from AI – my article on 30+ jobs that will always need a human employed as the driving force behind it. Many of them are jobs that involve a personal interest, judgement, opinion or feeling about the topic at hand – something you need to really be passionate about

Books to Find Your Purpose
- The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks is one of the main career transition books I recommend. He has lots of tips on trying to determine what your “zone of genius” vs “zone of excellence” are. Ultimately, the dream is that we all get to work in our Zone of Genius, which is doing something that we both LOVE and are naturally good at. Something that comes so naturally to us that it doesn’t feel like work
- Books on Money Mindset – Often, job and career decisions are highly related to the relationship we have with money. Our fears and beliefs about money correlate with the jobs we choose, how much we charge people for our services, and how long we stay in jobs we’re unhappy with. So, I highly recommend browsing through the money mindset books that I recommended in that link, which have had an enormous impact on my life
